Who we are
pretend.date ("we", "us") is an adults-only (18+) AI-companion app. The characters in the app are fictional AI — not real people. This policy explains what we collect and why.
What we collect
- Account: your email address (via email or Google sign-in).
- Profile: the information you provide — display name, age, gender, "who you're looking for" preferences, interests, short bio, and any photos you upload.
- Activity: your swipes, matches, first moves, and the messages you send and receive with AI characters; notifications; subscription status.
- Technical: basic logs needed to run and secure the service (e.g., timestamps, error logs). We do not require your precise location.
How we use it
To provide and personalize the service, generate AI character replies, run safety and moderation checks, prevent abuse, and (if you subscribe) manage your plan.
AI processing of your messages
To generate character replies and to run safety classification, the text you send (openers and chat messages) is transmitted to our AI provider(s) — currently [OpenAI] — which processes it on our behalf to return a response. Please review your comfort with this before sharing sensitive information.
Service providers
We use trusted processors to run the app: [Supabase] (authentication, database, file storage), our AI provider [OpenAI], and [Resend] for transactional email. They process data only to provide their service to us.
What we do NOT do
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not run advertising or ad-tracking.
Cookies & local storage
We use only what's needed to keep you signed in and make the app work. No advertising trackers.
Retention & deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, photos, and associated data.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (e.g., GDPR in the EU), you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your data, and to object to certain processing. You can delete your account in-app, or contact us at office@pretend.date.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure.
Children
The service is for adults 18 and over only. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has used the service, contact office@pretend.date and we will remove the account.
Changes
We may update this policy; we'll post the new version with a revised effective date.
